Rainy Day at Disneyland Paris: Best Indoor Attractions & What to Pack
A wet forecast doesn't have to ruin your trip — here's how to make the most of it, and why the queues might actually be shorter.
Paris gets rain year-round, and a wet forecast doesn't have to derail your Disneyland Paris day — both parks stay fully open in the rain, and a surprising number of attractions, shows and shops are entirely indoors. Here's how to turn a grey-sky day into one of your best on the trip.
Pack for It Before You Land
A proper waterproof rain jacket beats an umbrella almost every time in the parks — umbrellas are awkward in queue lines, on rides, and in crowds, and many attractions don't allow them on board at all. Pack a lightweight poncho as backup for each family member, and prioritise waterproof, comfortable shoes over anything that won't dry out quickly if you're walking all day.
Indoor Attractions Worth Prioritising
Dark rides and fully-enclosed attractions across both parks keep running normally in the rain, and queue times for them often drop on wet days as fair-weather visitors head for shelter or leave early — which makes rain one of the best-kept secrets for shorter waits on popular indoor rides. Shows, theatre-style attractions and the resort's shopping arcades also offer a genuine, comfortable escape from the weather without leaving the parks.
Outdoor Rides Still Run — Mostly
Most outdoor attractions operate through light-to-moderate rain; it's lightning, high winds or genuinely severe weather that leads to temporary closures, usually announced through the app with an estimated reopening time. Roller coasters and higher attractions are the most likely to pause first if conditions worsen, so check the app's live wait-time and status screen rather than assuming a ride is running as normal.
Dining Becomes Your Friend
A rainy afternoon is the perfect excuse for a longer, relaxed table-service meal instead of a rushed quick-service lunch — restaurants tend to be quieter too, since fewer visitors linger over food when they're trying to make the most of dry outdoor time. It's an easy way to reset the day if the weather doesn't improve by early afternoon.
The Upside Nobody Mentions
Rainy days consistently see lower overall attendance, which means shorter queues almost everywhere, easier last-minute dining reservations, and more relaxed character meet-and-greets. Plenty of repeat visitors deliberately choose a forecast with a chance of rain, knowing the trade-off in comfort is often outweighed by a genuinely quieter park.
Travelling To and From the Parks in the Rain
Wet weather is exactly when public transport connections feel hardest — wet platforms, delayed trains, and taxi queues that stretch further than usual. A private transfer takes the guesswork out of a rainy arrival or departure day: your driver meets you under cover where possible, and you're not standing outside waiting for a bus with wet luggage and tired kids.
